Men's Gen 2 Snow Sport Base Layer

This was a case of 'in for a penny, in for a pound'. Longstanding knee issues and a recent lower back injury mean I no longer really trust my body and was looking for anything that might help me enjoy a family skiing holiday with friends. I don't know if it's science or sentiment but the support around knees, hips and lower back certainly felt good. I would recommend them to anyone looking for the little bit of extra something - scientific or psychological.

I wasn't sure what to expect but when I received them I could feel the quality. Wore them to ski & the extra support on my tired old knees gave me a few hours extra on the slopes each day.

This is the email I sent to Geoff recently following a concern I had due to a recent mishap. Turned out I didn’t do any ligament damage to my right knee (I already have a fully torn ACL in my left knee. Geoff wrote back promptly with real concern for my situation. Here’s what I wrote
Geoff-

Just wanted to drop you a note for several reasons - 1) I don’t think I’ve ever had a head of company (or for that matter any company personal ) take personal interest in who I’m doing with their product. 2) I’ve tried many different support systems to protect my knees. Stoko, Bracelayer and Go Sleeves to name several. At one point I was using a full on Donjoy ACL brace which really tired my leg out over the course of the day. Suffice it to say I’ve spent plenty in pursuit of the vest solution for my knee with no ACL (fully torn) and now the other knee with a meniscus tear. Admittedly, I do a lot of training to strengthen my legs (cycling and weigh training) but I can unequivocally state that Imbrace is the best combination of support and comfort I have come across. I will be posting this as a 5 star product review on your website later today when I’ve finished skiing for the day.

I was unsure whether to purchase this - I sustained an Ant Cruciate ligament rupture, which I elected to treat conservatively, as in usual daily activity my knee remained stable. I had used elasticised sleeve knee supports when skiing as a measure of support, but found they restrict the knee posteriorly.
I have now used this product skiing for a whole day - no restriction posteriorly as the design has no stiffer elasticised mesh posteriorly behind the knee - so no pressure / restriction posteriorly, whilst maintaining good patella position, knee support and warmth. I will now use this every time I ski !

I wasn't sure these would give me the support I needed as the area around the knee wasn't so much a brace as inferred but just some supportive padding. I have dodgy knees including a ruptured ACL in one knee. I have used Skimojos for the past few seasons which have protected my knees but are a faff to put on and switch on and off in use. I didn't want to risk aggravating my knee Injuries without some extra support so wore a simple brace over my worst knee albeit they were far more supportive in use than I expected from first appearance. The brace on it's own would not have been enough but in combination with the Imbrace keeping.my knees warm I had a trouble free week skiing from first to last lift. The snug fit around the knee and the padding prevented any swelling of my knees which is a first for me in a long time. The high waist and wide strap helped my stiff, painful lumbar region and the open pouch assisted pee stops making it a lot easier. I found them warm enough with a pair of thick underpants and insulated salopetts down to -10C but they wouldn't be enough on their own under shell pants.
All in aĺl a great addition to my kit, I wouldn't ski without them from now on. Just don't expect them to be supportive on their own with serious knee injuries.
